Life is Feudal: Big Update! Siege and Throwing Weaponry!

The following is a set of patch notes from the recent update to Life is Feudal which features all throwing weaponry (apart from Naptha Grenades) and Trebuchets! Prepare for the real siege to begin! Dear players! Unfortunately this April patch does not contain all of the initially planned features. We have had to postpone the World loading optimizations feature because it affects very sensitive core program mechanics and we want to spend more time on polishing and testing. On the brighter side, throwing weaponry and trebuchets are here! Later in May we plan to implement explosive naphtha grenades and explosive trebuchet charges - our first AoE (Area of Effect) weapons! Patch notes (ver. 0.3.7.2):  Implemented the first siege weapon - Trebuchet . Make sure you have at least 50 Intelligence in order to use it effectively ;) You can read more about its mechanics on our Wiki[lifeisfeudal.gamepedia.com]  Implemented throwing weapons: knives, axes and javelins.  Bugf...

Weapons: Single Handed Blades

Image
Single Handed Blades or also known as "Blades Mastery" as a skill, are very basic weapons, you probably seen from a lot of medieval/sword slashing movies that single handed blades are very favourable: this is because they are lightweight and just like the game they too, are lightweight. In Life is Feudal, they are the simplest weapons to craft only requiring  Thick Leather  and  Metal Bars . However, how effective are these weapons in the game? Well, they are; depending on the stats of your character. If you have high Strength and high Agility you will swing fast and hard! These weapons also allow you to stay lightweight which means your speed when running stays high enough to catch intruders running! Types of Single Handed Blades you can craft Knight Sword:  The Knight Sword is a basic straight sword with no real great damage properties. However, Blades have two forms of damage: Slashing and Piercing. Mix both of these together and you have a very versatile ...

Farming those Stems and weaving some Rope!

Image
Rope is one of the most important materials in Life is Feudal as it allows you to build advanced structures, create practice weapons and also build your well for that useful water bag for bone glue! However, it seems very far away from getting early game! I am going to show you the fastest way to get it planted in possibly one sitting of playing the game: Around 4-6 hours. These are 6 steps to gaining ropes: Step 1: So you entered the game with either 60 farming or none at all. That's cool, get gathering plant fibers, flintstones and branches and make a primitive shovel. Start plowing the green grassed areas. This will take time and possibly a lot of determination but trust me you will reap the rewards when you finally achieve level 90 farming. Step 2: Now that you have level 90 farming, quickly grab up some more plant fibers, flintstones and branches to make a sickle! Start gathering wild plants! To do this go to some forest soil and right click it -> Farming -> Gather...

Missile Weapons: which is better?

Image
Missile Weapons As of the December patch in 2014 when crossbows got the bug fix, people have been perusing missile weapons and that's great. However... Some do not understand why when they draw their arrow back it simply flops to the floor OR it doesn't go as far as they think it should be going. However many people understand the requirements for them and simply don't know which would be best to either defend, offend or land battle with. So this post is going to go into a little depth to show which form of missile weapon is best used for which scenario. First lets look into how to get these Missile Weapons: First you need your throwing weaponry to 60 , you can set this on your character creation before entering a Server. You will have the ability to use a Sling which is an early primitive throwing weapon: if used in collection of a a group, it can be deadly. Second you need to have someone or yourself the ability to tan hides and also Tailor as you will nee...

Training weapons: how not to kill your friends!

Training the right way So once we all get to that point where we can create training weapons such as the training sword, the bastard sword etc, we all want to train with them! However, Since training dummies and Archery targets training abilities aren't implemented, we need to find another form or method to train! Idea 1 The first idea is to find animals: peaceful or aggressive. However this can have repercussions due to the fact that if you are level 0 - 30 in the weapon of your choice, your attacks are slowed. This is to simulate that you do not know how to use the weapon! So Fighting a bear or wolf with a wooden sword is not recommended. Idea 2 This is when players start turning to each other to help level your characters weapon training. Again this has repercussion, we all know the fabled training glitch where you can randomly critical hit your friend for 200 blunt damage killing them instantly: therefore them being mad and possibly asking to leave the guild/group. I...

Grinding Skills: Carpentry tree!

Image
Three Skills down and 2 to go on my Grinding Skills tutorials! I will now be covering the Carpentry tree where you can gather/plant sprouts, cut trees down, refine logs to make furniture and turn boards into bows! In this post I am going to go over my own experience grinding up the Carpentry tree skills: Forestry Logging Carpentry Bowcraft Warfare Engineering (Not implemented) Forestry:  To effectively level up your Forestry skill, it's probably recommended you enter the character creation stage and set it to 60 be default to collectively bypass it: but for those who do not, the best method I have found is collecting Sprouts from individual trees! Yes this does take a little time but gathering branches only levels me by 0.5/2.0 skill which is very slow. As opposed to gathering sprouts which levels me almost 5.0 skill points up, it's twice as fast and more effective. I would highly recommend getting your forestry to level 90 to have the ability to plant Oaks, e...

Grinding Skills: Smithing Tree!

Image
So far I have covered a range of trees from: Construction and Farming. I am now going to cover the Smithing skill tree where you can find ore in the land, Mine it out of the ground, Smelt in up into metal goods and then forge metal tools/weapons and armour! In this post I am going to go over my own experience grinding up the smithing tree skills: Prospecting Mining Smelting Forging Armour Smithing Prospecting:  To start grinding up your prospecting skill, it isn't to start looking for Iron. First you want to gather as much flint stones up as possible. These will serve you better when you go to craft your first primitive tools! This should level you too at least level 30-40 so from here you can start to prospect for Iron/Copper ore (these are the two most abundant ore types). As soon as you reach level 60 in prospecting you should have already found Iron/Copper ore by this time. Now you can craft a pickaxe and this brings up to the nex...
